My Story
Growing up in Central/Southern Illinois, I did not have any experiences with ice fishing. I had never witnessed someone walk on a frozen lake before, nor had seen a fishing rod shorter than 6 feet in any outdoor store.
My first outing on the hardwater was something I will never forget in 2017. I watched my friends pull up sunfish after sunfish while I sat there studying how they did it, patiently waiting for my first fish. It was around sunset when I felt my $10 ice rod (that I bought that day) bounce down and continue to bend towards the hole. As the rod was beginning to crack, I watched my friend jump down and start to "hand over hand" the fishing line until a beautiful 23" walleye appeared. From that moment on, I was "hooked" and wanted to be involved with all things ice fishing.
My Mission
My mission for Long Ice Outdoors is simple: To help people experience all things ice fishing and to keep the passion of the sport here for as long as possible.
